Conversion of Victorian Building to Apartments

The property concerned was a large Victorian building formally used as port authority offices.

After standing vacant for some years the structure suffered badly from the usual issues and defects relating to water ingress and moisture penetration.

Purchased by a developer plans were drawn up to convert the building to one and two bedroom apartments which included four basement units.

An inspection was duly carried out by a member of Sovereign Chemicals Technical Department proving individual specification based upon the site conditions and client requirements.

The system deemed to be most appropriate was the Type C form of waterproofing, the SovDrain CDM8 Cavity Drainage Membrane System.

The system was designed for walls forming split basement levels which included a designed perimeter SovDrain aqua-duct as the base of walls which will guide any ingressing water to the sump and pump station positioned within the floor. SovDrain CDM8 was placed across the floors to complete the system.

On completion of waterproofing works an insulated metal track lining system was positioned in front of the membrane to all walls and the floor membrane screened to a finish.
