Traditional London Property

A traditional London property. Flat 1 was situated on the ground floor, and which included a basement level.

However, the basement was damp, dark and dingy, and was being used for storage of certain items that also soon became damp and mouldy, although it was understood there had been no known history of physical water ingress or flooding.

Notwithstanding this, in accordance with BS8102, an appropriate waterproofing system had to be designed, considering that during the life of the structure, some degree of groundwater pressure is likely to build up against the chosen waterproofing system.

In this basement optimizing the use of available space was an important factor, together with the client’s wish of not wanting any water entry into the internal space, including even behind any lining type system. Therefore, Type A Protection was employed, utilizing the Sovereign Hey’di K11 Tanking System, which was applied to suitably prepared walls and floor in order to create a fully continuous barrier, thus preventing the passage of liquid water.

Sovereign Renderlite Renovating Plaster was applied over the K11 Tanking System to provide a suitable finished surface and assist in converting and transforming this damp, dark, dingy basement into a dry, light, habitable room.
